![]() There is just barely room to squeeze between the far bed and the window. Beds are very disappointing by IHG standards. The bed is supposedly a double, but I'm 5'5" and my feet hung off the end. The water is either scorching hot or freezing cold. The bathroom is also very small, and the shower doors open in a clumsy configuration that has you stepping out in a tiny space between the shower and the toilet. Room was clean, but desperately in need of some basic cosmetic re-vamping (peeling wallpaper, musty smell). The room is very small, even by NYC standards, and if you have more than a couple of carry-ons, you will hardly have room for yourself. Ours was a double room, 36th (top) floor. Fortunately, there is an in-room fridge and a 7-Eleven two doors down. They don't even have a muffin or complimentary cup of coffee. I wouldn't recommend going down there alone. Vending/gym are in the basement and are dimly lit, and it feels a creepy. We weren't climbing 36 floors every time we went in and out. We waited almost 15 minutes at the longest. If you don't like a LONG wait for the elevator, book a low floor and take the stairs. …įront desk staff was friendly, and room was clean. But even with the good price and location, I don't think I would stay there again when there are so many other options in the area. The front desk and housekeeping staff were very friendly. The lobby decor seemed very tired and often crowded with suitcases which were being held for guests to reclaim at a later time. We only had two towels upon arrival and never got a spare roll of toilet paper. The rooms and bathrooms are quite small, even by NYC standards. Our room was clean but the curtains and window blinds were tattered and very discolored, which was also off-putting. It should also be noted the elevators can be extremely slow and often used as a service elevator by the staff which complicates matters even more. It seems like everyone from the hotel staff, the police and the un-homed people are trying to make the best of a tough situation. The un-homed folks were gone in the mornings when we left the hotel. But it can be disconcerting and sad upon an evening arrival at the hotel. And honestly, that's probably why un-homed individuals feel safe sleeping there as well on the benches. I never felt unsafe in any way largely because of the police presence. This might be why there is also a police sub-station type truck that seems to live just outside the exit as well. However, it should be noted that in the evenings, there are a significant number of un-homed individuals who spend the night immediately outside the hotel's 8th Avenue entrance. And the price is relatively reasonable for NYC Mid-town. The hotel is at a terrific location for visiting Times Square and coming from Penn Station.
